The King is bread, long live the King.

Few things are better than a well buttered piece of bread. There are foods more complicated or dynamically flavorful than a slice of bread. Foods like lasagna with its layers of sauce and noodles, foods that start with a roux or end with a pan sauce, humble foods with fancy names like cassoulet, foods cooked with stones under the earth, yes, there are many foods that are not bread. And while I may cook these other foods, eat them with relish, they are not what this site is about.

My goal is to bake one hundred loaves of bread and document that experience. I am not a baker, I have baked three loaves of proper sourdough previously, and none within the last few years. I do not have a time frame, but I do intend to use this site to document my journey, how I fail, what I learn, and hopefully a few things I get correct.

A quick disclaimer:
There is a LOT of information about bread, in books, on the web, maybe even on TV and video, after all, scientists believe that humans have been baking bread since 10,000 BC. This site is not meant to be an authoritative source for bread information, by my own admission, I am surely blowing it currently and will stay blowing it for the first, I don’t know, fifty, seventy, maybe all hundred bakes? If your goal is to learn about bread, this is not the place to learn from someone who knows what they are doing.

This is not a good loaf of bread. But it is a loaf of bread, and that is good.
